Forever Young Pintrosity

My roommate pinned this image ages ago and I immediately fell in love with it. Seriously. Thought about it day and night. I even debated getting it as a tattoo.
Pinterest
A couple weeks ago I ran across this tutorial on Pinterest and immediately knew what I wanted to do. So I attempted to replicate the forever young image with glue on an old Hanes tee.
Life of Charmings
As usual, my eager self could not possibly wait to gather all of the appropriate supplies so I used what was on hand. The glue that I used is Elmers clear glue, not gel... but it still worked. But when I dyed the fabric it was too faint to see the image. I didn't even take pictures because it didn't work well.

But I love this idea and want to try it again with the gel glue. Have you tried this fun DIY? What worked for you?

DIY Glittered Heels

I have more than a few pairs of heels that have taken a beating at the Bloomington bars... I had finally come to terms with the fact that they are beyond the point of passing of presentable and was ready to toss them out.
Then I decided to glitter them and wear them on New Years Eve instead of buying new heels for the occasion! They turned out perfectly. Here is a little about the process...

I added some snapshots of the damage for anyone needing comedic relief. It's hilarious how awful they look... And these are just some of the spots!

They were obviously in need of lots of TLC.

But this project took barely any effort at all! I snipped away the pieces of the patent that were obviously sticking out from being scraped so that the surface would be even.

I got my supplies together. All you need is Mod Podge (not pictured - but I just used the regular bottle), glitter, a bowl, and a brush (I used a sponge brush).
I also lined the inside of the bowl with aluminum fowl to make clean up a breeze - I knew I wouldn't be saving the remains so I just tossed the foil and everything left over when I was finished.

I simply poured some Mod Podge into the aluminum covered bowl and added glitter. (Sorry I don't have a ratio for you guys - I just kind of guesstimated... I probably had roughly equal amounts of each).

IMPORTANT NOTE! The Mod Podge will be white when applied but will dry clear. Don't fret!

I used glitter that is larger so that it would have a flashier effect for NYE. I think that the smaller pieces would look gorgeous as well!

Coffe Bliss

This semester has already gotten so hectic. Coffee has always been my lifeline but I can tell we are going to have an extremely intimate relationship this semester :)

What I Wore: ummm ages ago?

I was going through my phone and deleting some old stuff and ran across these picture and realized I had never posted them!

I'm pretty sure everything I'm wearing in this picture is from Charlotte Russe. The striped top is actually a bodycon dress with some really cool lace detail in the back. I threw the skater skirt on top to make it more daytime appropriate and paired that with this bright, and playful blazer.

I was told I looked French.

I was also obsessed with how I had painted my nails that day but it's hard to see in the pictures above so here is another shot I found.
I simply painted the multicolor stripes and then put a coat of silver glitter polish on top.

Below is a picture of my inspiration... I can't seem to find the link to it though, when I do I will update!

I have been so obsessed with glitter lately! Here is another shot of my obsession making its way onto my hands :)

If you want to see more of my nails feel free to follow me on Instagram... I tend to post my favorites.

What I Wore 1/15/13

I needed a pick me up from all of the winter gloom so I decided to break out my red jeans today! I paired it with a top that I absolutely love. I honestly would wear it everyday if I could - it has a subtle chevron detail and dips down so that is longer in the back (Of course I didn't think to take a picture of that though...)
(And yes, that is a snowman headband hanging on the door handle... I may or may not still have my Christmas decorations up!)

I attempted a sock bun - and for someone who typically hates wearing her hair up, I actually really liked it!

Then when I got to school, I found that my friend Lauren and I were on the same wavelength while getting dressed this morning!

Remember those pesky New Years resolutions? I hope you're at least attempting to stick with them! Best of luck!

Dreaming of a different bliss

As I begin to hunker down and study my new textbooks, I am finding myself distracted by dreams of a vacation so soon after my Winter break ended!

What I Wore: 1/8/13

First day of Spring semester classes and it still too wintery and cold to even utter the word 'Spring'. So as I dragged myself out of bed this morning I decided to throw together this outfit...
It's no where near my typical style - seems a little too hip for my personality but I figured I would throw it together and loved it! Super comfy winter themed leggings paired with furry snow boots and my new chambray top I got for Christmas!
I have been searching for a chambray top for a LONG time but just couldn't seem to find the perfect shade. My wonderful mother found this one and it's exactly what I wanted!

Fun leggings :)

Lace mason jar DIY

This is so simple and marvelously attractive.
I bought this lace to just add to my crafting collection and have used it so many times lately! Here is just one of the many crafts.

My mason jar and lace obsession has been combined to make a somewhat chic coin catchall.
(Now that I have to pay to use laundry at my apartment I needed a way to store massive amounts of quarters.)

This lace was found at Hobby Lobby and was great for this project since it does not lay flat (as you can see from the way it forms a semi-circle).
I just added some hot glue and viola! So simple!
I have made a few more since then and have loved playing around with a variety of ribbons and lace. Good luck with your experimentations!

Never second guess

This past weekend I was lucky enough to spend some time with my amazing friends in Chicago. As we prepared to celebrate the New Year we discussed all of our memories from 2012 we laughed and also shook our heads many times thinking about the shenanigans from the past. After we pondered where we will be in the next year I found this and thought it was marvelous.
